Plant Loader & Securer - is it enough?

Does NPORS plant loader securer cover everything you need?

Many companies you undertake work for will require your drivers to be certified by an accredited body to load and unload plant and machinery. There are many schemes that can be used to show this: NPORS, CPCS, IPAF.. to name a few. However, did you know these schemes only covers loading and unloading plant and machinery the driver is already certified on.

The plant loader securer does not certify you to drive any piece of equipment on a construction site or yard.

Now you might be thinking, do you need an operators ticket for every machine you could possibly need to move? If you have a driver without experience you could end up spending thousands on tickets for every category (just for them to leave and go operate plant on site for double the money)!

For example:

Excavator novice course £1200.00

Dumper and roller £800.00

ADT £800.00

Telehandler £800.00

Total: £3,600.00 PER DRIVER!!

NPORS offer a Plant Mover (non operational duties) course to suit just this very situation, split into tracked, wheeled, rigid, articulated, earthmoving, access and lifting equipment. These courses can be undertaken over 2 days for a novice operator and are far more cost effective than putting every driver through a full operators course. The typical cost of this course (assuming you have your own machinery and yard to train in) could be as little as £800.00 for 5 or 6 drivers.

Think of it like this:

  • Plant mover lets you move the machine about
  • Plant loader lets you load and secure the machine on a transporter.

If you need any more information or want to discuss options on training, do not hesitate to pick up the phone or drop us an email!
